Wonton noodles or wantan mee is a popular Cantonese noodle dish which is a very simple noodle dish served in a hot broth garnished with wonton dumplings, meats and vegetables. This dish is not just popular in China but in Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Philippines and Hong Kong as well. The variation of each location is minimal and mostly it varies only with the vegetable used and the additional meats. Commonly they use thin egg noodles but others use rice noodles or thick egg noodles.
Siu mei
alternatively known as siu lap, is the generic name in Cantonese cuisine given to meats roasted on spits over an open fire or a huge wood burning rotisserie oven. It creates a unique, deep barbecue flavor and the roast is usually coated with a flavorful sauce before roasting.
If you take a stroll in chinatown, which is located in the downtown of Manhattan. It's a district where you can see all the shop are written in chinese letter, and lots of asian faces walking in the street. Most of the buildings were built back in the history, so that the district is quite old and you will see the majority who live there are chinese elders, which established a very traditional chinese culture, including the decoration on the streets, the food they are selling in restaurants, and the merchandises they sell in each little shop. If you want to eat in Chinatown, be sure to bring cash! A lot of restaurant only accept cash payment, and some of the traditional chinese food are amazing.
